About the project
For the curious listener.
Sounds.im explores the science and the stories behind the things we hear.
A world worth listening to
We bring together simple explanations, recording history and small interactive experiments. The aim is to make a technical subject inviting, whether you love old radios, enjoy records or just wonder why your hallway echoes.
The human part matters
Recorded sound can hold a family voice or bring back an ordinary afternoon. That connection belongs here alongside the inventions and the facts.
A Really Byte project
Sounds.im is published by Really Byte. Our equipment links help support the project through affiliate commission. Our editorial pages and browser experiments are free to explore.
The listening-room artwork is an original AI-generated illustration; it is not a photograph of a historical museum object. Historical explanations link to further reading.
